Whittemore Update

The Friends of Whittemore is in the process of rejuvenating the current nature camp facility and its programs to create a broader based nature center and more valuable resource for the community. At this time we have no camps scheduled for Summer 2017. We are working on having 2 weeks of nature camp in the month of July. Please come back to the website end of March - we will have more details to provide you.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would like to participate in this exciting venture, we are presently seeking several board members to volunteer their time and talents. If interested, please call 439-1201 to leave a message. As usual, the Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary grounds are open from dawn until dusk. Stay tuned. . .

This spring The Friends of Whittemore will again be offering community garden plots at Whittemore Wildlife Sanctuary at 7 Rockaway Rd., Oldwick, NJ.

The plots will be available for $25 each. They will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Additional information including the application and other necessary forms can be found HERE

Come join us and grow your own organic produce in our deer fenced garden right here in Tewksbury! Get your plots now before they’re all taken!

The Roving Nature Center is run by The Friends of Whittemore, a non-profit 501(3)(c). Our goal is to promote good stewards of the enviroment through education and encouraging children and adults to enjoy nature.

Programs

We offer several programs for ages 1+ from Wee Walkers to Kids Fun Days to Summer Camps.  Children enjoy exploring and learning though a hands on approach that encourages a safe, non-computerized, fun, outdoor environment.  Come play with us.

Project

We are beginning a major inititive to improve the santuary and to keep our doors open.  As a non-profit we are constantly in search of funding and support to meet our goals. We will be replacing and adding signage, making trail improvements, supporting the community, and continuing programming.

There are several ways you can get involved.  Participate in programs, become a member, make a donation, volunteer, hike the trails.

Our next major fundraiser will be the annual rummage sale on April 2 from 9am-3pm.  Donate items begining on February 29 and come back to shop.
